RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr. Yang's research goals are to develop well-defined cell-based devices and functional polymer nanomaterials through a solid understanding of the nanoscale properties of polymers and application of environmentally and biologically benign nanoengineering techniques.
In the Leong lab, his research is focused on developing well-defined dynamic cell culture platform through the application of polymer micro- and nanotechnology as well microfluidics. Equipped with tools to precisely control topographical, chemical and mechanical cues on cell culture, I would like to investigate how cell proliferation and differentiation are affected by these cues. Ultimately, an optimal microenvironment can be created to regulate the fate of stem cells and eventually expand specific stem cells for clinical applications.
